The Categories of Water Part 1

Not every water damage is the same. There are many different ways that water can damage not only your home, but anything you have in your home. When restoring a water loss, not only is the source and extent of the damage a factor, so is the type of water that caused the damage. There are 3 categories of water to consider when dealing with a water damage. Here are some details for each category:

Category 1 water is clean water. It is drinkable water. Water that comes out of a faucet is an example of Category 1 water. Category 1 water can change into Category 2 water quite quickly. Water that leaks onto a dirty floor, or that drains through insulation can easily change the water category from clean to dirty.
